Venado Caves

We started with a 45 minute drive to the private farm where the caves are. Upon arrival you will get a flashlight, helmet and rubber boots (size 11 or larger must wear their own shoes). Our naturalist guide will start with a brief history of the caves and then go into the depths of this incredible journey.
A walk which leaves uncovered amazement at the river flowing from the underground labyrinths to the entrance of the cave. There are no lights or walkways, giving the feeling as if you were the first person exploring. Turn on your flashlight, jump into the river, and watch out for those spiders on the walls! There is no way back.
It’s a bit difficult to walk by the river, but that’s just part of the adventure. Be prepared to go through small holes, crawl through narrow passages, climb small rock formations and walk through small waterfalls. Feel the air move around your face when the bats fly just above your head. Notice how they have carved their nests out of solid rock.
Enjoy the numerous stalactites, stalagmites, coral, and chimneys as if you traveled back in time. The rock called “Papaya” is spectacular. This is an experience you will never forget! It is recommended only for people with good physical shape.

What to bring: Please wear old pants and a shirt, no jewelry, bring cotton socks for the rubber boots, extra clothes, towel and soap.
